The Alberta Youth Theatre Collective (AYTC) began it's first year in September 2021. The purpose of the AYTC is to raise the profile of youth theatre programs in the community, encourage attendance at theatrical productions, educate theatre appreciation, celebrate achievement in theatre arts, mentor young writers, and give youth a platform for their creative endeavors. We support and encourage youth on stage, behind the scenes, and in the audience. AYTC supports a collection of schools within Edmonton and surrounding areas by offering different opportunities for young students to attend and review shows with selected reviews published with the Edmonton Journal, with the season culminating in a Year-End Gala in June celebrating all of the years productions. We provide additional support for schools and students through workshops, tickets to professional productions (ex. Broadway Across Canada), and additional enrichment, mentorship, and training.
